Polaris is a Finnish state-owned icebreaker. Built in 2016 by Finnish shipbuilder Arctech Helsinki Shipyard.
She was delivered to the Finnish Transport Agency, which then handed the vessel over to Arctia Icebreaking, the Finnish state-owned company that will operate the vessel.
She is the most powerful icebreaker ever to fly the Finnish flag and the first icebreaker in the world to eco friendly engines to be powered by both low-sulfurmarine diesel oil (LSMDO) and liquefied natural gas (LNG)
It is fitted with three Diesel-electric ABB Azipod units

Its max Speed is 17 knots in open water and 4 knots in 1.8m ice.
