The Norwegian Coast Guard confirmed that Russian-flagged general cargo ship Mekhanik Fomin developed a heavy portside list while underway in the Norwegian Sea west off Narvik.

The incident occured on march 18 while the 1991 built vessel was underway to Inverness, UK. The ship was loaded with timber when it experienced a cargo shift.

It was reported that some of the cargo fell overboard leading to a cargo shift and subsequent listing of the ship.

The KV Senja and Strulborg were immediately deployed to the location to assist the distressed 2650 dwt vessel.
